Social Protection Programme

Education, rights, and protection for vulnerable teenagers to thrive

KEEPCARE Rwanda creates the conditions for vulnerable teenagers to realize their aspirations and rights, and to thrive, through four forms of intervention.

Social protection programme activity
Active Programme
Social assistance for teen mothers, teenagers affected by HIV/AIDS, albinos, and unaccompanied or disabled teenagers.
Income enhancement through life skills, vocational and entrepreneurship training, and access to microcredit.
Transformative action on social inequity through awareness campaigns, stigma reduction, and protective policy.
Preventive measures against poverty — shelter, nutrition, and sexual & reproductive health safeguards.

KEEPCARE Rwanda's interventions recognize the importance of education, gender equality, including prevention of sexual gender-based violence, and the rights and protection of vulnerable teenagers.

Education

Ensuring vulnerable teenagers, especially poor households and unwed teen mothers, complete primary and secondary education, with support for informal schooling expenses and a safe home environment.

Gender Equality

Prevention of and response to GBV through community sensitization, awareness, and capacity building on gender and behavior change.

Rights & Protection

Supporting unwed teen mothers to register children and obtain birth certificates, legal advocacy for paternal recognition, and legal support for GBV survivors.
