Vocational training, microcredit, and sustainable livelihoods for vulnerable teen mothers
This programme empowers young people, particularly disadvantaged teenage mothers, who face widespread poverty, limited educational opportunities, and lower academic performance caused by gender-based violence. Teenage mothers are among the most economically vulnerable groups, more so than adult women or adolescent boys.
KEEPCARE Rwanda aims to increase the economic productivity of vulnerable teenagers and improve their livelihoods through sustainable income-generating activities — providing entrepreneurship development and capacity-building for teenage mothers and adolescents affected or infected by HIV/AIDS.
Main activities include vocational training and support for income-generating activities such as selling vegetables and fruits, growing vegetables, producing mushrooms, and raising domestic animals — including a demonstration pig farm.
Microcredit to start income-generating activities, savings initiatives, and financial literacy education.
Vocational training and entrepreneurship support that empower beneficiaries toward financial independence.
Beneficiaries grouped into associations of 30, with SRH, gender equality and GBV training.
